Every person employed in Switzerland is subject to compulsory insurance according to UVG (accident insurance), including household employees and babysitters etc. With the exception of various exceptions such as so-called “pocket money jobs” (Hobbysitters) for young people and young adults as well as properly retired people up to special limits, the so-called UVG (accident insurance for domestic workers) mandatory. This Accident insurance can also be taken out at a later point in time, but it is advisable to take it out before you start working with the sitter, so that you have cover from day one.

As an employer, UVG is mandatory in any case and must be taken out directly by the parents themselves.
